November 21 - Ugh. Well, so much for keeping to a schedule. I was doing pretty good, too, until Thanksgiving kicked the wind right out of me. Let me try to make it up to you with DOUBLE "Just One More" features for the days I missed! Here, then, is Just One More Batman Comics Character of The Day - The Red Hood, and Just One More Fantastic Four Comics Character of The Day - H.E.R.B.I.E.!
November 22 - Hey! That was Turkey-Gobblin' Day. How 'bout those Packers, eh? Great stuff to go with the great stuffing (not to mention the stuffing of my own fat gut with as much Thanksgiving grub as I could lay my hands on). I had to work on Thursday, so I spent most of the later part of the day at the dreadful "real" job. FUN! And I was all by myself for most of that. MORE FUN! Speaking of "more fun," here are some apologetic "Just One More" features; Just One More Military Comic Book Character of The Day - Lt. Cdr. Don Winslow, U.S.N., and Just One More Comic Book Quote (and Source) of The Day - "Though the world may mock Peter Parker, the timid teenager...it will soon marvel at the awesome might of...Spider-Man!" (Amazing Fantasy #15)!
November 23 - OK, now it's just too much. After the once mighty WOMPuter passed on to that great tech-junk heap in the sky (or, more truthfully, in my basement), we bit the bullet and purchased its replacement, WOMPuter 4.0. Then we learned that we could get super-fast DSL/cable Internet and a modem for a fantastic deal, so we finally upgraded. That made me feel like we're finally living in the Twenty-First Century. What happened next, though, has left me shaking my head with shock and feelings of guilt. The lovely WOMP Staff and I went to our local Wal-Mart on Friday at about 10:00AM to see what "Blitz" items were still available (we weren't crazy enough to try to fight the crowds at 5:00AM) and to purchase a wireless system for the modem. Imagine our surprise when we found that one of the unadvertised, super-secret sale items - which was temporarily priced at over four-hundred dollars off of the regular price - was still available. The deal was too good to resist, so we bought it...."it" being another laptop computer! CRAZY! I feel so...I don't know; consumer-y? We went from plunking away with an aging, ailing desktop tower hooked to dial-up, to effortlessly surfing on TWO laptops wirelessly connected to the fastest Internet speed available! Oy...the guilt is nearly crushing me. Who do we think we are? Truthfully, though, we spent less on two laptops and all of the other goodies combined than we did on the deceased WOMPuter back in the day. WOMPuter 4.0 has now become primarily "mine," while the other laptop is principally The Staff's. Wow. I still can hardly believe it. We're just like real people now (we both have even learned to despise Windows Vista). Well, keeping with the theme of "two is better than one," here are two more "Just One More" features for you; Just One More Comic Book Writer of The Day - Paul S. Newman, and Just One More Western Comic Book Character of The Day - The Reverend Jesse Custer!
November 24 - Still doing the "catch up" thing. Boy...I was off-line for a long time. I was very busy, though, so it's not like I was just ignoring the poor WOMP-Blog. Far from it! Every night, to whoever would listen, I'd whine about how I should really have been working on The Forbidden Territory, or should instead have been blathering about some inane thought or another, but, when push came to shove (and "sleepy" came to "narcoleptic"), I was forced to pass on bloggerating. Now, however, I've nearly caught up with these double-up "Just One More" entries, so I suppose I should wrap this up with Just One More Comic Book Sidekick of The Day - Sandy, the Golden Boy, and Just One More Comic Book Time-Traveler of The Day - Supergirl!
November 25 - And it happened again. After a ten hour shift at the dumb "real" job, I knew that I was going to run out of energy as I posted "make up" entries here in The WOMP-Blog, but I still wasn't prepared for how quickly sleep overcame me. At about 1:30AM, I finished the "November 24" entry below, then stepped away from WOMPuter 4.0 to get something to drink. Somewhere between my desk and the refrigerator, I more or less collapsed into a chair. That's where I found myself when I woke up a short while ago. You know, I often kid about having narcolepsy, but I'm starting to wonder. Of course I had every reason to be exhausted, but sleep still hit me less like a rest, and more like a seizure. Oh, well. That's how it goes, I guess. Speaking of "how it goes," I have to talk about a couple of things that I've been continually forgetting as I go along this week. They are...
- A shout out to fellow Thanksgiving-is-no-day-off working man, Brent. I feel you, man. Hang in there (retrospectively...).
- A reminder to fellow so-busy-that-the-blog-suffers friend, Derek. You wanted to talk to me about something?
- An explanation to you why-am-I-reading-this-junk WOMP-Blog readers. For those of you who read this via the traditional WOMP-Blog page on the johnmundtesquire.com site (as opposed to the newer WOMP-Blog Archives page hosted on LiveJournal), you may notice that I have not removed October's entries from this page, as I normally might have. In part, that's because of all of the computer problems of the first part of this month, but it is also so that you can more easily refer to them as I (someday) continue writing The Forbidden Territory. Although I hope that the story will stand on it's own, it is also intended to "reward" any of you who faithfully waded through "Forbidden" WOMP Characters Month. You will probably see some things coming before they are revealed in the script. As a reader, that is something that I enjoy, so I thought you would too. Which brings me to...
- A sixty-seventh apology to you no-seriously-why-am-I-reading-this-junk WOMP-Blog readers. No more story this time around. I really, really hope to get to it later today. Really! I have another stint at the dorky "real" job in a bit, but it shouldn't be much longer than a normal shift, so I hope to have some time and energy reserves set aside for writing. Just in case, here are the last doubled "Just One More" installments, your Just One More Comic Book Love Interest of The Day - Raina, and Just One More Star Wars Comic Book Character of The Day - Zayne Carrick!
