July 15 - I'm not griping, just letting you know what I've been up to; I spent pretty much all day, from morning through evening, at the dread "real" job...and now I'm really pooped. This odd, uncharacteristically lengthy stint was the result of a schedule-shift that I wanted so that I could attend a promising meeting on Wednesday evening. Hosted by the Wisconsin Arts Board, the get-together is supposed to be informative in regards to new grant and art job opportunities. Or something like that. I'm not 100% positive on just what the meeting is about, but, when the "Wisconsin Arts Board" is holding about four such meetings in the state, and one of them is in your own population-six-thousand hometown, anyone with any claim to being any kind of artist should check it out. So I will. I've also told O.F.O.WOMP Cary Kann about the meeting, so he is planning to be there as well. The two of us have been gabbing about it for a week now, so the excitement has been building (if "excitement" can also mean "increasing, but sober, interest"). I have no idea what, if anything, may come of this, but I have this peculiar feeling of - gulp - optimism about it. I know; me and optimism? Creepy, right? But why not be optimistic in this one, narrow, circumstance? I have nothing to lose but my time, and I already know that I will enjoy meeting with whoever attends (in fact, Cary and I have already planned to have our own meeting continuance at a local eatery afterward, just so that we can talk shop). It feels like the first day of school, or something...except without the justifiable dread. I'll give you all a run-down of the meeting Wednesday night. Now, I have to split, so here's your Comic Book Editor of The Day - Carl Potts!
July 14 - Hey there! The 14th was one crazy, hectic day, punctuated by a late night visit from my sister and brother-in-law, and topped off with an early wake-up call for work the next day. Because of that, I didn't get the chance to post anything here. Oh, well. Here is one of my personal favorites, the Comic Book Editor of The Day - Archie Goodwin!
